And He is the one who accepts repentance from his slaves and pardons evil deeds. [42:25]
So whomever is thankful, patient and seeks forgiveness, will obtain happiness in the Dunya and Akhirah.
What a beautiful advice! These are all actions that originate in the heart, that manifest some way on the limbs. The first as in all things is intention.
إنما الأعمال بالنيات
Indeed actions are by intentions. [Sahih al-Bukhārī 54, Sahih Muslim 1907]
So we must be Thankful, Patient and seek forgiveness for the sake of Allah ﷻ alone.
Many of us, Do Shukr, Do Sabr and Do Istighfaar and Tawbah over and over, But we find ourselves complaining, ungrateful and returning back to sin! Why? It is because we have not corrected the condition of our hearts at the same time or even before we corrected our outer shell. And as the Prophet ﷺ said
ألا و إن في الجسد مضغة إذا صلحت صلح الجسد كله و إذا فسدت فسد الجسد كله، ألا و هي القلب
“Indeed in the body there is a piece of flesh, if it is sound then the entire body is sound. If it is corrupt then the entire body will be corrupt, verily it is the heart” [Sahih al-Bukhārī 52, Sahih Muslim 1599]
So let us not only show outwardly, that we do Shukr, Sabr and Tawbah. But inwardly we must better ourselves.
For Allah ﷻ knows all. And Allah ﷻ if he so wished, would expose all. In the Dunya while you walk among others or as you leave this world. Or in the Akhirah, as you stand before Allah and in front of the creation judged for your book of deeds.
يَومَ تُبلَى السَّرَائِر
The day when the secrets are exposed. [86:9]
