﷽ ➖➖➖ THE DAY OF QIYAMAH ➖➖➖ A Day Of Regret ➖➖➖ Allah ﷻ says in Surah Az-Zumar ayah 56
أَن تَقُولَ نَفْسٌ يحَسْرَتَى
Lest a person should say: “Oh Woe to me!
عَلَى مَا فَرَّطَتُ فِى جَنبِ اللَّهِ
In that I was neglectful towards Allah
Ibn Kathir رحمه الله writes: means, on the Day of Resurrection, the sinner who neglected to repent and turn back to Allah will regret it, and will wish that he had been one of the righteous who obeyed Allah.
وَإِن كُنتُ لَمِنَ السَّاخِرِين
and I was indeed among those who mocked. [39:56] Meaning, “my actions in this world were those of one who ridicules and makes fun, not of one who has firm faith and is sincere.”
Oh son of Adam! What will your biggest regret be? What will haunt you on the day of Qiyamah? When you see the chaos, when you see the fire, the people of it… When you see Jannah and people entering it?!
Will your regret be the many women you dishonoured?
Will your regret be the many men you fooled with your beauty?
When you see the person who you committed this Haram with, who will take the blame of whom? When the cry will be Nafsi, Nafsi!
You, who indulged in the pleasures of this Dunya and ignored the warnings of your Lord… What will your regrets be on the day of reckoning?
Will your regret be, the friends you chose? As they led you away from Allah ﷻ into the hands of the Shaytaan? And who will take the blame for whom? on the day when the cry will be Nafsi, Nafsi!
You who remains in heedlessness, and with your back to your creator, what will be your regrets be on the day of calamity?
Will your regret be, the repentance you didn’t get around to doing? Or will your regret be the Salah you didn’t pray? The fasts you didn’t complete?
And how many in the graves, regret not saying الحمد الله just that one more time?
Oh son of Adam! What will your regret be? On the day, the people will remember themselves and their deeds and cry out:
يَقُولُ يٰلَيتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي
They will say “Oh woe to me! I wish I had sent forth my life” [89:24]
What will haunt you on the plains of Hashr?
Take account of yourselves before you are accounted for what you used to do!
Turn away from the lives you lead in heedlessness, chasing the illusions of this Dunya and repent to Allah ﷻ!
