Is fasting on your birthday accepted in Islam?
❌ Fasting on own Birthday❌
⏩ Question:
Is fasting on your birthday accepted in Islam
⏩ Answer:
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation; may the peace and blessing be upon our noble Prophet Muhammad, his family, his Companions and all those who follow him precisely until the establishment of the Hour.
⁉️ Nowdays many people fasting in the own birthday and they claim that Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam did fasting every Monday because He was birth on Monday
❓ So what Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi Wa sallam fasting in Monday because He was born in Monday?
❌ The answer is NOT—Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi Wa sallam fasting in Monday not because he born in Monday,so what is reason?detail as follows
▶️ There is no any evidence that commands or recommends fasting on the day of birth. As for the fasting of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam on Monday, NOT because Monday is his birthday. However, he fasts on Mondays because on that day the deeds of every servant are reported to Allah, and he wants that when his deeds are reported, he is in a state of fasting. It’s just that this Monday coincides with the birthday of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam it’s not mean He fasting for Him birthday
✍️from Abu Hurairah radhiallahu anhu he stated the Messenger of Allah shallallahu alaihi wa sallam, he said,
تُعْرَضُ الْأَعْمَالُ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسِ فَأُحِبُّ أَنْ يُعْرَضَ عَمَلِي وَأَنَا صَ ائِمٌ
“Good deeds and worship is reported on every Monday. I am wish when my deeds are reported I am in a state of fasting.”
📚Imam Thirmidhi (no. 747)authentic by Al-Albany in Shahih Thirmidhi.
▶️ Based on that on monday our deeds are reported to Allah. So Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi Wa sallam wanted that when his deeds was reported, he was in a state of fasting.
⚠️ As for setting aside one day a year for fasting, as a reminder of the birthday of the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam, or own birthday, then that is a matter of bid’ah that contradicts the sunnah of the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam.
🚫 What is spread among the people with what is called a birthday, it is an Bid’ah that is not legislated in Islam
❌ So it is not permissible to do specific fasting, or doing certain practices with the reason of the birthday
⁉️ Also the companions of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi Wa sallam and the generation before us they not did it.We not known any of the salaf and scholars who said it was prescribed for them to fast on a day in a week, or in a month or in a year or made that day a holiday on the grounds that the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam fasted on the day of his birth every week, fasting on own birthday. If it had good and prescribed by the rules of islam, the scholars and the companions ,the generation before us and the previous Muslim community would have done and preceded us in this deeds. So, when they don’t do it, it can be known that the matter is Bid’ah which cannot be practiced
✍️Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said :
إِيَّاكُمْ وَمُحْدَثَاتِ الأُمُوْرِ فَإِنَّ كُلَّ مُحْدَثَةٍ بِدْعَةٌ وَكُلَّ بِدْعَةٍ ضَلاَلَةٌ
stay away from fabricated things, every fabricated matter is an act of bid’ah, and every bid’ah is misguidance.

And Allah knows best
