How to Gain Tranquility of the Heart

TRANQUILITY OF THE HEART

Increase the remembrance of Allah ﷻ
➖➖➖
Allah ﷻ says

هُوَ الَّذِى أَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ فِي قُلُوبِ المُؤْمِنِين

He it is Who sent down As-Sakinah in the hearts of the believers
Meaning, tranquility. Qatadah said “Grace into the hearts of the believers.”

لِيَزْدَادُواْ إِيمَـانًا مَّعَ إِيمَـنِهِمْ

So that they increase in faith.
[48:4]
When their hearts felt content with acceptance and were at peace, Allah ﷻ increased their faith, joining it to the faith they already had.

Allah ﷻ also says

اِنَّمَا الْمُؤمِنُونَ الَّذِيْنَ اِذَا ذُكِرَ اللهُ وَ جِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُم

The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts

وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَـانًا

and when His Ayat are recited unto them, they increase their faith
[8:2]

Contemplate!
Do we feel a trembling in our hearts when the Ayaat of Qiyamah and the Adhaab are recited or happiness when the Ayaat of Rahma and Hope are recited?

If we don’t why don’t we?
Maybe we failed to seek knowledge,
Our hearts are hard towards the Qur’an.

Wallahi, true happiness and contentment only comes from the remembrance and the obedience of Allah ﷻ, with the knowledge of what you are striving towards.

We need to increase our remembrance, otherwise we will stagnate and risk decline into Nifaaq.

For example, one makes a habit of praying Salah properly, but it becomes only routine, so 1st the Nawafil go, then the Sunan go, and then the Faraa’idh is rushed, until he stops praying completely.
And from there his entire life goes downhill in Deen and Dunya.

If only he found out what Surah Fatiha meant,
Or he memorised a new Surah to recite in Salah instead of Surah Asr and Ikhlas.
He would have been consistent.

We must continue to increase our Dhikr, our good deeds to keep the Imaan sustained in our hearts.
Then comes the true contentment.

And we also have to avoid sins, as much as possible.
Hearts only become hard due to our sins.
Allah ﷻ says

كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُون

Nay! Surely there is a rust over their hearts due to what they used to do.
[83:14]

For example,
Haram Love earns you heartbreak!
Yet the Dhikr of Allah ﷻ earns Jannah.
