O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance! [66:8] meaning, a true, firm repentance that erases the evil sins that preceded it and mend the shortcoming of the repenting person, encouraging and directing him to quit the evil that he used to do.
The Prophet ﷺ said “Verily, Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His slave than a person who lost his camel in a desert land and then finds it (unexpectedly)” [Bukhari and Muslim]
سبحان الله
Repenting to Allah ﷻ my brothers and sisters is the first step! Repentance changed the lives of many! Look at the likes of Imam Abdullah ibn Al Mubarak! The likes of Fudhayl Ibn Iyaad! And many examples like them! رحمهم الله
The power of repentance is such that you won’t see its power until you actually engage in it.
It cleanses you! Washes your soul!Burns the sins burdening you! And it is an act of Ibadah!
And Allah ﷻ loves the repentance!
إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِين
Surely Allah loves those who repent. [2:222]
Repentance is 4. 1️⃣ Acknowledge the sin, and really ponder over it and where it is leading you, until you feel shame and guilt if you don’t already.
2️⃣ Seek forgiveness from the sin, pray 2 Rak’aat Salah of Tawbah, and do continuous Istighfaar and adkhaar.
3️⃣ Avoid the sin you previously committed with a conscious and strong will to never do it again.
4️⃣ If or when you somehow again fall back into the same sin, start the cycle again and don’t stop trying nor lose hope, for Allah ﷻ is the most merciful.
