But far better is the abode of the hereafter for those who have Taqwa
أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ
Will you not then reason [6:32]
سبحان الله
Allah ﷻ here is telling us the reality of this world compared to the hereafter!
Anything you strive for in this Dunya is nothing but play and amusement, rendering it useless in Al Akhirah which is far better for the Muttaqeen!
What do we learn? That the Akhirah is better for the Muttaqeen because they realise that the Dunya is Ephemeral and a Delusion. They instead spent their time acting to please Allah ﷻ and gain Jannah!
And this is only logical! Merchants won’t cash in on investments immediately, rather they’ll wait till they can cash in the most amount! Police will let the little fish lead them to the big catch, the head of it all!
So in turn, when we are told by the creator of a beautiful Dunya, that it is nothing compared to the Akhirah… Shouldn’t we wait, abstain from this Dunya in order to acquire what awaits us in Al Akhirah?
افلا تعقلون؟
Will you not reason?
The Prophet ﷺ said
الكيس من دان نفسه و رضى بالكفاف و عمل لما بعد الموت
Wise is he who controls his self and is pleased with minimal resources and devotes his deeds for what is after death. [At-Tirmidhi]
We spend so much time on wealth, When our wealth won’t help ransom us in the grave nor on Qiyamah!
On our beauty! When our faces will wrinkle and decay in the grave, When we will be raised naked on Qiyamah, and even then nobody will look at us.
On our status! When the adoration of people won’t save a person from Jahannam, And the hate of people won’t stop a person from entering Jannah.
Use your time wisely! Even if it is a worldly thing, make intention that it is for the sake of Allah ﷻ!
If you are going to work, make intention that you intend to provide for your family so as to protect them from hunger and discomfort for the sake of Allah ﷻ!
Do this until even Sleep becomes Ibaadah! You can snore away and get good deeds. As actions are based upon intentions.
May Allah ﷻ forgive us and protect us.
