🧕🏻: As-salamu alaykum, Patience. You know, sometimes I think about how fleeting this world is. It’s hard to stay focused on what really matters.

🧕🏾: Wa alaykum as-salam, sis. That’s true. The Quran says in (57:20): “Know that this worldly life is no more than play, amusement, luxury, mutual boasting, and competition in wealth and children. This is like rain that causes plants to grow, to the delight of the planters.

But later the plants dry up and you see them wither, then they are reduced to chaff. And in the Hereafter, there will be either severe punishment or forgiveness and pleasure of Allah, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment.”

🧕🏻: Yeah, it’s like no matter how much we strive here, it’s just temporary. It’s all going to fade away eventually.

🧕🏾: Exactly. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a traveler.” (Sahih Bukhari, 6416). We’re just passing through this life.

🧕🏻: But no matter how much we try to avoid thinking about it, death is real. We’re all going to face it.

🧕🏾: Right. The Quran says in (3:185): “Every soul will taste death. And you will only be given your full compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained his desire. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion?”

🧕🏻: That verse really hits home. The Prophet (ﷺ) also said, “Remember often the destroyer of pleasures – death.” (Sunan Ibn Majah, 4258).

🧕🏻: It’s a scary thought that when the time comes, we’ll die alone. No one can accompany us in the grave.

🧕🏾: Yes, death is a personal journey. The Quran says in (6:94): “And you have certainly come to Us alone, as We created you the first time, and you have left whatever We bestowed upon you behind you.”

🧕🏻: And we can’t take anything with us—just our deeds. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for him.” (Sahih Muslim, 1631).

🧕🏻: And after death, we’ll be questioned alone. That’s something I can’t stop thinking about.

🧕🏾: True. The Quran says in (23:101-102): “Then when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another. And those whose scales are heavy with good deeds – it is they who are the successful.”

🧕🏻: The Prophet (ﷺ) also told us about the questioning in the grave: “Two angels will come to him, make him sit up, and will ask him: ‘Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is this man who was sent among you?'” (Sunan Abi Dawood, 4753).

🧕🏻: When we’re buried, we’ll be alone, right?

🧕🏾: Yes. The Quran (80:33-37) describes how, on that Day, “a man will flee from his brother, and his mother and his father, and his wife and his children. For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.”

🧕🏻: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “When a person is placed in his grave and his companions return, he hears the sound of their footsteps. Two angels come to him, make him sit up, and ask him…” (Sahih Bukhari, 1374). Even then, you’re all by yourself.

🧕🏻: And on the Day of Judgment, there’s no one to help you, no one to take responsibility for you.

🧕🏾: Exactly. In the Quran (31:33), Allah warns: “O mankind, fear your Lord and fear a Day when no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father at all. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you.”

🧕🏻: The Prophet (ﷺ) also said, “Each one of you will stand before Allah, and there will be no interpreter between him and Allah.” (Sahih Bukhari, 6539). We’ll be accountable for everything we’ve done.
