THE LOVE FOR OUR PROPHET ﷺ ➖➖➖ Love him more than you love yourself ➖➖➖ On the Authority of Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
مثلي كمثل رجل استوقد نارا فلما أضائت ما حولها جعل الفراش وهذه الدواب التي يقعن في النار يقعن فيها وجعل يحجزهن ويغلبنه فيقتحمن فيها. قال: فذلك مثلي ومثلكم أنا آخذ بحجزكم عن النار، هلم عن النار هلم عن النار فتغلبوني فتقتحمون فيها.
My example is the example of a man who lit a fire, and when it illuminated everything around it. Moths and insects started to fall into it, and the man started to prevent them, but they overcame him and the fell in it. He صلى الله عليه وسلم then said: So that is my example and yours. I am holding you back by (what you tie around) your waists from the fire, Distance yourselves from the fire! Distance yourselves from the fire! But you overpower me, and you fall into it. [Sahih Muslim]
Your mother brought you out of her womb and into this world by way of great pain, The Prophet ﷺ is trying to save you from the Hellfire by his example and his intercession and lead you into Jannah.
So who is more deserving of your utmost love first after Allah ﷻ?
As Prophet ﷺ said:
لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى أكون أحب إليه من والده وولده والناس أجمعين
None of you truly believe until I am more beloved to him than his parents, his children and all of mankind put together. [Sahih al-Bukhari 15, Sahih Muslim 44]
And when a person reaches this stage of love for Prophet ﷺ , Then he can rejoice with the glad tidings,
كما قال رسول الله ﷺ المرء مع من أحب يوم القيامة
As Prophet ﷺ said, A person will be with whom he loves on Qiyamah. [Sahih al-Bukhari 5817, Sahih Muslim 2641]
How do we express our love? 1. Learning his Seerah & Sunan
2. Sending excessive Salawaat and Salaam upon him any time we remember Allah and make Du’a etc.
3. To implement as many Sunan from his life, into our own and to follow it and uphold it despite how society views it.
4. To defend our beloved Prophet ﷺ when the enemies of islam criticise him or make a mockery of him.
May Allah ﷻ raise us amongst those who are close to Muhammad ﷺ, and grant us the ability to drink from his blessed hands, and bring us close to him in Jannah
