Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: My Lord! Send me back, So that I may do good in that which I have left behind! [23:99-100]
سبحان الله
The people who know they were wicked in this world, when they meet Allah, they’ll plead with him so much!
But Allah ﷻ continues in the same ayah:
كَلاَّ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَآئِلُهَا
No! It is but a word he speaks! [23:100] The word كلا is a word that is used to rebuke, and the meaning is: No, We will not respond to what he asks for and We will not accept it from him.
Have you ever thought about this? Reflect..
When Allah ﷻ says in Surah Qiyamah
كَلاَّ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِىَ
No! When the soul reaches the collarbones!
وَقِيلَ مَنْ رَاقٍ
And it will be said “Who can cure him?” [75:26-27]
At this time, this is when the opportunity to repent has left you. The only other time this will happen is when the Sun rises from the west. Now reflect, which one is closer to you?
So why have you not repented yet?
Why have you not turned to Allah ﷻ and increased yourself in good action?
Because then Allah ﷻ mentions in the same ayah after talking about the soul pleading for another chance.
and in front of them is Barzakh until the Day when they will be resurrected. [23:100]
Mujahid said, Al-Barzakh is a barrier between this world and the Hereafter.
In other words, no returning back. No going back. One chance in the Dunya and after that you will be placed in the grave and behind a Barrier.
And while the righteous person will have a pleasant time till Qiyamah, smelling the scent of Jannah with Noor in his grave and it expands for him.
The wicked person will have a tightening grave which makes his ribs interlock, it will have a punishing grave of darkness and the smells and a window open to Jahannam.
Reflect, which one do you truthfully deserve?
How many more days will pass before you are forgotten?
