Abbas Ibn Abd Al-Muttalib

Abbas ibn Abd al- Muttalib was born on 566 AD. He was the parental uncle and Sahabi of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib was older than his nephew. He was a wealthy merchant and also protected Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during his stay in Mecca.

He converted to Islam after the Battle of Badr in the year 624 CE. Abbas was the youngest brother of the father of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). During his stay in the early years, all Muslims were gaining adherents. Abbas provided the protection to his entire kinsman but failed to adopt the faith. When Makkah fell, he turned away from all the Quraysh rulers and provided all of his support to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Abbas Ibn Abd Al-Muttalib died on 653 AD and was buried at the cemetery of ‘Jannatul Baqee’ in the city of Madinah.
