Abu Talib Ibn Abdul Muttalib was born in 549 AD. Bani Hashim was the clan of Quraysh tribe of Makkah. He got married to Fatima Bint Asad and was the uncle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Abu Talib was a big supporter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He was the brother of father of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Az-Zubayr Ibn Abdul Muttalib. Abu Talib became the leader and head of Bani Hashim, after his elder brother died. When the mother of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Aminah Bint Wahhab passed away, the custody of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was given to his grandfather Abdul Muttalib. His grandfather Abdul Muttalib died, when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was at the age of 8 years. He was then transferred to his uncle Abu Talib, who was also the clan leader. Abu Talib died in 619 AD. This very same year, the wife of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Khadijatul kubra (R.A) also passed away.
