THE REGRETS OF THE SOUL
➖➖➖
Surah Az-Zumar [39:55-59]
➖➖➖Allah ﷻ says:
And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord
Means, the Qur’an
before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive,
Means, without you realizing it.
Lest a soul should say, “Oh [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to Allah and that I was among the mockers.”
Or [lest] it say, “If only Allah Had guided me, I would have been among the righteous.”
Or [lest] it say when it sees the punishment, “If only I had another turn so I could be among the doers of good.”
[39:55-58]In a hadith narrated by Abu Huraira
Prophet ﷺ said:
Each of the people of Hell will see his place in Paradise, and they will feel sorrow and will say: ‘If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous’ [az-Zumar 39:57].
And each of the people of Paradise will be shown his place in Hell, and will say: ‘and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us’ [al-A‘raaf 7:43].”
[Musnad Ahmad]When the sinners wish that they could return to this world so that they could believe the Ayat of Allah and follow His Messengers, Allah ﷻ will say:
But yes, there had come to you My verses, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers.
[39:59]
Meaning, `O you who regret what you did, My Ayat did come to you in the world, and My proof was established against you, but you rejected it and were too arrogant to follow it.Ya Ibn Adam! The Shaytaan deceives you and makes you foolish towards your Rabb.
He uses the adornments of this Dunya to keep you this way till death.
Know that you will either regret or be relieved on Qiyamah by your deeds.May Allah ﷻ forgive us all and grant us everlasting happiness till eternity.
