AL-QARIIB (القريب) – THE NEAR
➖➖➖Loneliness is a universal human experience, but when it’s compounded by the sting of betrayal, it takes on a new dimension. Have you ever felt abandoned by those who should be closest to you, leaving you yearning for someone to understand your struggles? If you’ve ever found yourself in this emotional whirlwind, consider redirecting your gaze to a source of solace that surpasses human limitations – the Creator of all, Allāh (ﷻ).
Imagine a reality where time constraints and lack of understanding vanish, replaced by a Being who comprehends you better than you comprehend yourself. Allāh’s knowledge of your struggles predates their existence, and His solutions far exceed what you could fathom. Embracing one of Allāh’s names as “Al-Qarib,” entails recognizing that no one is more intimately connected to you than He is.
Allāh’s nearness transcends comprehension. He’s both omnipotent, with absolute control over His creation, and omniscient, with complete knowledge of all beings. As you stand on the precipice of life’s challenges, remember that Allāh is ever-present, comprehending your every thought, movement, and whisper before they materialize.
The notion of Allāh’s nearness is not a mere theological concept; it’s a transformative perspective. A unique reciprocity exists between Allāh and those who draw near to Him. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) emphasized this symbiotic relationship, stating that “when a servant draws near to Allāh by an inch, Allāh draws near by a mile.”. The profundity lies in the third scenario: “when a servant approaches Allāh, He accelerates towards them at a pace beyond measure.”
(Riyad As-Saliheen 96)
Consider the common situation of longing for someone’s attention. Allāh’s attention, however, eclipses all else. He is closer to you than your jugular vein, aware of your most concealed thoughts. Recognizing His ever-watchful gaze should evoke a sense of shyness and mindfulness.
Allāh’s benevolence is evident in His accessibility. While high-profile individuals often shy away from providing their contact information due to incessant requests, Allāh encourages us to ask of Him. He’s both capable and willing to respond, without the barriers of technology or distance.
Drawing nearer to Allāh(ﷻ) is a simple yet profound journey. No elaborate equipment or technology is required – just a heart humbled in supplication. Allāh’s nearness is irrefutably linked to the act of dua, a reminder that our deepest connections with Him are established through earnest communication.
Three practical steps can guide you towards the profound nearness of Allāh: first, embrace the power of sujood (prostration), for it is during this act that you are closest to Him. Second, fulfil your obligations as prescribed by the deen, as Allāh’s love is cultivated through the fulfilment of duties. Third, invest in voluntary acts of worship, allowing them to elevate you to a higher plane of closeness.
Picture the night sky, where the darkest hour precedes dawn. Similarly, the darkest moments of your life can herald Allāh’s closest proximity. Embrace the tranquility of the night and pour your heart out to Him, for the closest distance between two points is a heartfelt dua.
In the end, the journey towards Allah’s nearness offers a refuge from the isolation of betrayal. The Creator’s love surpasses the confines of human relationships, His knowledge penetrates the depths of your being, and His power is boundless. As you draw near to Him, remember that He hastens to meet you, closing the gap with a love that knows no bounds.
May Allāh makes us from those who are loved by Him
اَلـلّٰـهُ أَعْلَمْ
اَلْحَمْدُ لِـلّٰـهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ
