Belief in destiny either good or bad is the last article of faith that every conscious Muslim must believe.
Life is like two sides of a coin which has both good and bad, success and failure, and ups and downs.
Nobody wants to experience the other side of life but the reality is that life gives birth to both good and bad.
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)says in one of his sayings: Wonderful is the attitude of a believer. If something bad happens to him, he is calm and patient and thanks Allah and if something good happens to him, he will thank Allah. Nobody can do this except a believer.
Allah also reminds us in the holy Quran that our faith will be tested.
Allah says: “Alif lam mim, do people think that they will be left alone because they say”We believe, “and will not be tested?
And indeed We tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make known those who are true, and who are liars.”This is a fact from the creator of the heavens and the earth. We have seen some situations where some Muslims who are weak in faith change their religion as a result of trials and tribulations.
Trials and tribulations are not limited to a particular tribe or religion adherents.
We have Muslims who are sick, lying down in the bed in different hospitals throughout the world, we also have non-Muslims who are sick in different hospitals across the world.
We have Muslims who are seeking the fruits of the womb, likewise, we have non-Muslims too praying for such every time.
.Muslims die every day as well as non-Muslims. So why must you change religion because Allah tests your faith?
A conscious Muslim must be patient, steadfast and prayerful and accept”Qadar” either good or bad. There is a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)which says only prayer and charity can change destiny.
Allah has informed us in the glorious Quran, Q2:155-157. He says: “And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits but give glad tidings to the patient ones
Who when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allah we belong and truly to Him we shall return”.They are those on whom are blessed and will be forgiven from their Lord and it is they who are the guided ones.”
I remember the quotation of my knowledgeable Sheikh-l-Islam, Sheikh Ibn Abayomi (May Allah forgive him and bless his soul with Jannatu-l-Fridaos aameen). He said, “A Muslim is a person who is theoretically stable and practically active.”
That was how Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) trained his companions. This can be learnt from the story of Abu Talhat and his wife, ummu Sulaim.
Abu Talhat and his wife demonstrated practical faith. To be continued.
