Abu Talhat went for a battle with Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) for the cause of Allah. He left his wife and little child who was sick.
His son died the day he returned but before his arrival. His wife bathed, shrouded and laid him on the bed. She went to the market and prepared delicious food for her husband.
When the husband arrived, they embraced each other. Abu Talhat asked of his son and she said he was resting. A good Muslim that dies is indeed resting.
They ate together with love and they cohabitated. It was after salatu-l- Ishai that she called her husband and asked him a question. She said if someone keeps a property in one’s custody and comes back to collect it, should it be returned to him? Abu Taliha responded in the affirmative.
Then Ummu Sulaim said Allah who gave us a son had taken it back. The husband was shocked. He quickly picked up his clothes and went to report his wife to Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w).
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)
listened and calmed him down. He then advised him to forgive his wife. He said his wife was trying to practicalise believe in destiny and the Prophet prayed for him”Baarakallahu fi gaabir lailatukuma”Meaning, May Allah bless the night you cohabited.
However, Allah answered the prayers of his beloved Prophet and he blessed Abu Talhat and his wife with nine sons who were all Islamic scholars and hufaazu-l-Quran(They all memorised the holy Quran).
We can’t challenge the decisions of Allah, we can only pray to Him to ease our affairs.
Do not kill yourself with grief and sadness for that will not lighten your troubles.
I know of a person who killed himself with sadness. He allowed his problem to weigh him down and this led to sickness and the sickness led to his death. Don’t ever think of committing suicide because this will add to your punishment on the day of judgment.Destiny can also be a good omen. Things can be going on smoothly for a person by being blessed with wealth, children, position, sound health and guidance.
Nobody does this except Allah. No matter the situation you find yourself in, accept it and thank Allah.
My dear brothers and sisters in Islam. Let us assist any of our brothers or sisters going through one problem or the other. May Allah strengthen our faith and make our feet firm on the path of righteousness aameen. Written by Akande Ayinde Mutiu Abu Hassan.
