Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:وَمِنَ الَّيْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهُ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلاً طَوِيلاً
And during the night, prostrate yourself to Him, and glorify Him a long night through.
[76:26]Allāh ﷻ commands us, to make Sujood! To prostrate before Him. But how many of us are empty shells prostrating?
How many of us actually prostrate with Khushoo’?
And how many of us fall into the category whom the Prophet ﷺ mentioned about them,
Abu Abdullah al-Ash’ari رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saw a man who did not complete his bowings and rushed through his prostrations while praying. The Prophet said, “If he were to die in this state, he will have died upon a religion besides that of Muhammad. The parable of one who does not complete his bowings and rushes through his prostrations is that of a starving person, who eats only a morsel or two that does not suffice him at all.”
[Al-Mu’jam al-Kabir 10459, Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-MundhiriHow many of us rush our Salah, in the process rushing our Sujood?
Ask yourself, what truly have you gained?
We all suffer from Hardship and we all turn to Allāh ﷻ, but if you don’t pray the Salah properly, what relief can it bring you?
Allāh ﷻ made this Sujood, a way of relief and comfort for Prophet ﷺ
As Allāh ﷻ says
Indeed, We know that your breast becomes tight because of what they say. So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves.
[15:97-98]But how will you be able to remove the anxieties and the hardships of this Dunya, without Khushoo’ in a prescribed Salah and Sujood?!
When you do Sujood, you should really feel the connection with Allāh ﷻ.
Zirr reported: Ali رضي الله عنه said, “The most beloved word to Allah Almighty is that one says while prostrating:رَبِّ إِنِّيْ ظَلَمْتُ رَبِّي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إلَّا أَنْتَ
O Lord, I have done wrong. My Lord, forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.”
[Siyar A’lam al-Nubala’ 5783, Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-Arna’ut]Ibn Umar رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Verily, when a servant stands to pray, his sins are placed on top of his head and shoulders. Every time he bows or prostrates, they fall away from him.”
[Sahih Ibn Hibban 1769, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Albani]Why has it become Mundane for you, that you do not feel the gravity of the Worship?
Our hearts have become averse to the Ayaat of Allāh ﷻ!
When we are urged to contemplate and sacrifice, we don’t prostrate! We complain! Is it not time for you to reflect on this and change?
