﷽
➖➖➖
THE CLOSE SLAVES OF ALLAH ﷻ
➖➖➖
Who are they?
➖➖➖Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِينَ
“Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].
[5:27]Allah ﷻ says in Surah Yunus,
أَلَاۤ إِنَّ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یَحۡزَنُونَ
There will certainly be no fear for the close servants of Allah, nor will they grieve.
[10:62]Who are they?
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ
Those who believed and were fearing Allah
[10:63]Ibn Kathir رحمه الله says about the above ayah, Allah ﷻ tells us that His Awliya’ are those who believe and have Taqwa of Allah as He defined them.
Ibn Kathir رحمه الله brings a narration regarding the first ayah,
Abu Ad-Darda’ said, “If I become certain that Allah has accepted even one prayer from me, it will be better for me than this life and all that’s in it. This is because Allah says, (he then recited “Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him]”[5:27])The Sahaba رضي الله عنهم were scared that maybe their deeds weren’t going to be accepted!
They were the best generation!
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet ﷺ said:
“ The best people are those of my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 6065, Sahih Muslim 253]They had more Taqwa than anyone after them! Yet they still feared for themselves!
Such was their mindset and attitude towards Allah ﷻ!
We must strive to be like them!
We must strive to be like those who have Taqwa,
So that our deeds may be accepted by Allah ﷻ!Because even though the likes of the 10 promised Jannah, knew their abode…
They never stopped in their duties! It is reported that Muʿlā b. Al-Faḍl رحمه الله said:
They (the Salaf) used to supplicate to Allāh for six months asking Him to get them to the month of Ramaḍān; and they used to supplicate for six months that Allāh accept [their fasting and other worship in Ramaḍān].So what of the likes of us!
Why do we continually expect that Allah ﷻ will definitely accept from us?!!!
When we are deficient in so many ways with regards to our Deen?!We have no guarantees, we have no promises and no covenants with Allah ﷻ, that He ﷻ will accept!
Rather we should hope, pray that it is accepted! And to expect acceptance, without effort or work is arrogant.
May Allah ﷻ grant us Taqwa and may Allah ﷻ accept all our deeds and forgive our shortcomings.
