On your tracks.
Set.
Go.
“Mummy, I love you but even if you hate me for this, I won’t go to that school if they do not allow me wear my jilbaab.”
“Daddy, I’m not going in that mall, there’s music all over the place.”
A lot of parents don’t want this.
They want children who will do anything to please them even if it displeases Allah, then when it comes to their rights, they talk of piety and obeying Allah.
Children who are raised upon selective piety: those are not the children we want!
Because we are free parents, because we understand that if our children obey us and disobey Allah, we will not benefit from them in this world and the next, and Allah will remove his barakah in their lives, and make them a source of fear and sadness for us in this life.
Then in the hereafter, our beloved children will become our enemies, pointing to us as the ones who misguided them and caused them to disobey Allah, and asking Allah to punish us and save them.
The children we want are the ones who will disobey us when we order them to do other than what Allah wants.
Allah is not unwise, if he gives you impious children, it is often because He sees that you do not deserve or want them yourself.
You have to choose one: either you want a completely pious child, or not.
But do not deceive yourself by wanting a “slightly” pious child who will obey you and be kind to you, but will be compromising when it comes to the rights of Allah.
Allah knows what is in the hearts of everyone and deals with us based on that.
