THE TWO STATES MAN IS ALWAYS IN:🚩🚩
Al-Mulk 67:1
Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent –
Al-Mulk 67:2
[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving .
Allah created life to test man as to how he performs when put in a given situation. His reaction should be one in line with the command of Allah. Having said that, man is always in one of two situations; happiness/bliss or distress/discomfort. When we say “test” we usually associate it with something bad that befalls us but this is not true – test is both in blessings and calamities. In blessings is the test of our gratefulness and in calamities is the test of our patience. Man needs to recognise Allah in every move of life – every time he sees good or feels good he should remember Allah and be grateful- it is to not wait for something big to happen, for even the mere breath we take in peace, security and health is a blessing unmeasurable. For eg: when he is hungry and is satiated with good food, he should consider if there was no food for him like the many who are suffering hunger for days and days on – he should see Allah for blessing him with food in time of hunger. Every good thing he sees in life he should think about those who are less privileged than him so that he is grateful for his blessings in life, for every blessing is perfected only by Allah. One should say:
“Praise is to Allah Who by His blessings all good things are perfected”.
And every time he sees or feels anything he does not like, think about the completion of our existence and test of life -that we will be tested with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth and loved ones and glad tidings are for the patient. Know that whatever calamity befalls us either in ourselves or the people connected to us, is a pathway towards the glad tidings of our success. Be patient and win. Not even a thorn is pricked to him but the believer gets it’s reward, how about his stress, anxiety, worry, sadness, tears, injuries, loss of health, loss of loved ones – we can only imagine the reward of these sufferings for a believer. Therefore, there is no escaping them but only persevering them in patience all the while anticipating reward from Allah and our purification and learning valuable lessons for future. For eg: if he hears ill words from people, or sees annoyances from his near and dear ones, he should praise Allah and ask for patience and perseverance, looking at his reward and ease that Allah will grant him as a result. Not to mention that he should take all means within his means to rectify his situation, taking the aide of abundant supplication to Allah thus fulfilling his tawakkul/trust in Allah.
Allah says:
We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure.
who say, when struck by a disaster, “Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we will ˹all˺ return.”(Al Qur’an, 2:155-156).
Thus, man is always in either of these two states, both difficulty and ease are made easy by his adhering to the religion of Allah, being conscious of Him if every affair of his life (taqwa), freeing himself from shirk and corrupt aqeedah, performing righteous deeds, the dearest of which is prayers on its proper time to Allah, engaging in the zikr of Allah, charity, fasting, inviting to good forbidding evil, having good etiquettes and helping others, ect.
Al-Layl 92:5
As for he who gives (in charity) and fears Allah.
Al-Layl 92:6
And believes in the best [reward],
Al-Layl 92:7
We will ease him toward ease.
There is no one more blessed than the one who believes in Allah, for those who do not believe in Allah too go through these trials and tribulations of life, but they have nothing in return and they are devastated when calamities befall them because they see no hope, while the believer is strong and steadfast because his heart is overwhelming with the anticipation of reward from Allah in this life and the hereafter for his gratefulness and his patience.
All praise is due to Allah who has guided us to the Straight path.
